Position:
Analog Design Engineer
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred

Experience:

  • Experience with PCB layout issues
  • A good understanding of analog circuits including Op Amps and control loops
  • Experience and skill debugging electronic circuits

The following skills are a plus:

  • Experience with high frequencies: 1 GHz – 25 GHz
  • Experience with modeling software tools such as SPICE or ADS
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design
  • Experience with systems involving hardware/software interaction

Position:
Application Engineer (Optical, Test Equipment)
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California

The Optical Test Application Engineer will be responsible for both pre-sales and post-sales support of sales opportunities requiring optical and electrical signal integrity measurements for development and manufacturing test of components, transceivers and network equipment. The Optical Test AE will work closely with both sales and marketing to demonstrate and support new qualify sales prospects and existing customers.

The qualified person will also assist in application development and documentation. This position will require up to 50% travel.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, minimum; MSEE desired

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with measurement instrumentation such as bit error rate testers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and/or time interval analyzers
  • 5 years of (field) application engineering
  • Strong communication and partnering skills, both internal to the company and externally

Customer Support Engineer

The Customer Support Engineer will be responsible for overall customer satisfaction, references, and follow-on business. As the primary post-sales interface between the customer and the organization, the Customer Support Engineer will proactively ensure that all technical and non-technical issues are documented and managed effectively to the customer’s satisfaction.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering desired

Field Application Engineer, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa)
Location: Switzerland or European Union
Starting Date: 1 January 2008 or earlier

Synthesys Research is actively recruiting for an Application Engineer to support the European Sales Organization.  We are looking for a sharp individual who has experience in high level technical support in a dynamic and rapidly growing  sales organization.  This position will require up to 50% travel

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required, MSEE desired

Responsibilities:

  • Support the sales organization in technical presentations for optical and electrical signal integrity test solutions
  • Work closely with the Product Marketing group in defining marketing requirements for next-generation optical and electrical standards
  • Perform pre- and post-sale hands-on technical demonstrations for new and existing customer base
  • Direct support responsibility for EMEA Marcom activities: trade shows and technical seminars
  • Handle all customer inbound pre- and post-sales technical support calls and deliver solutions to meet customer needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum education:  Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, MSEE desired
  • Experience in optical domain is an advantage
  • 5 years experience in an application engineering role or technical field support
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.  An additional language is a plus, especially German
  • Strong computer skills (MSOffice and data entry experience are important)

Inside Sales Representative
Location: Menlo Park, California

Our Menlo Park office is looking for an Inside Sales Representative. This dynamic individual will be involved in all aspects of the sales cycle, working closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer and Technical Support, to develop targeted programs and provide customer solutions.

Education:
Technical degree or 5+ years related experience

Responsibilities:

  • Develop qualified leads for the Technical Sales Force through inbound and outbound telephone contact.
  • Communicate accurate, detailed lead and application information.
  • Find prospective customer sponsors to assist in scheduling/coordinating appointments, demos, and events.
  • Capitalize on sales opportunities through collaborative teaming with the Technical Sales Force.
  • Maintain detailed account information in the CRM.
  • Provide forecast and pipeline reports.
  • Independently evaluate problems and recommend solutions.
  • Meet monthly and quarterly quotas and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in selling Test and Measurement or other high technology/electronics

Position:
Senior Electronics Test Technician
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California

Our Menlo Park manufacturing facility is seeking a Senior Electronics Test Technician to assist in the manufacture and repair of our electronic test instruments.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in testing high-speed digital and/or RF electronics subassemblies and assemblies required. Must read electronics schematics and troubleshoot assemblies down to the component level. Experience with PC applications and PC hardware maintenance a plus. Experience with signals >1 GHz a plus.

Must be familiar with GPIB communications, Microsoft Excel, DOS, Windows 95/98/NT4/ Win2K.

Responsibilities:

  • Test and debug of high-speed electronic circuitry, systems, and subsystems to the component level
  • Performing final system test verification
  • Component and/or assembly level debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and DVMs
  • Must be familiar with GPIB communications, Microsoft Excel, DOS, Windows 95/98/NT4/Win2K.

The following experience is considered a plus:

  • RF experience is a definite plus
  • Experience with PC applications and PC hardware maintenance

Position:
Senior Software Engineer
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California

The person filling the Senior Software Engineering position will participate in all aspects of the software lifecycle including writing specifications, design, implementation, and test. The ideal candidate will have worked in a product development environment and have successfully released products from R&D to manufacturing. We are looking for a senior Windows developer who can understand and control hardware as well as have an eye for good GUI design.

Education:
Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, implement, and maintain BERTScope family software from the device driver level to the GUI level
  • Help maintain existing products by investigating and fixing issues that arise in the field or manufacturing
  • Communicate specifications and design ideas through written documentation
  • Work with the hardware engineering team on cross-functional projects to deliver quality products and enhancements
  • Design and execute unit test cases, write “black-box” test cases, and work with hardware team on integration testing
  • Participate in design reviews, both for software and hardware projects

A candidate with demonstrable experience in the following areas will have an advantage:

  • Primary qualifications:
    • B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
    • Minimum of 8 years experience in commercial software development
    • Minimum 5 years experience controlling hardware with good understanding of basic electronic concepts
    • Good communication skills, both oral and written
    • High level competence developing in C/C++, preferably using Microsoft Visual C++
    • Prior development using COM
    • Experience writing and debugging device drivers, especially using the Windows WDM driver model
    • Experience developing in Visual Basic
    • Proven bug-sleuthing
    • Experience developing in a multi-threaded environment
    • Demonstrated GUI development with an eye towards usability and aesthetics
    • Experience developing on the Windows operating system (Win2K, WinXP)
    • Object oriented design experience
    • Dedication to quality and on-time delivery

  • Additional desired qualifications:
    • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
    • Experience developing in Tcl
    • Experience developing in the .NET environment with experience porting from Visual Studio 6 to .NET a plus
    • Algorithm and/or signal processing experience
    • Experience with source control systems such as Visual Source Safe
    • Prior development experience using National Instruments tools such as CVI and TestStand.

Technical Sales and Marketing Engineer

Responsible for sales of company’s complete line of technical solutions to small, mid-sized, and major accounts. Direct and coordinate the strategic planning functions and marketing business activities.  Maintain all aspects of foregoing strategic relationships and developing new business in research, development, manufacturing and systems environment. Forecast anticipated sales, observe product sale operations, conduct detailed market and financial analyses of select sales targets, and interpret demographic and marketing data for future growth of the company. Communicate and consult, on an ongoing basis, with managerial and executive staff and customers to coordinate and implement processes and effectuate feasibility studies and cost benefit analyses. Maintain and build relationships with account contacts in order to maximize product sales. Support customers with pre and post sales information. Prepare sales and marketing plans and demonstrations. Provide technical demonstration and training of products. Responsible for sales to accounts in North America to meet a designated sales quota as planned for the year.

Requirements:

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering; 2 years of experience, including experience selling high-end serial data test equipment, demonstration of test and measurement equipment including Digital Oscilloscopes, BERTs, and spectrum analyzers, communication with engineers on test requirements solutions offered by testing equipment.
